It’s another fundraising success for Heather Damsell

Fabulous fundraiser Heather Damsell has done it again as she has helped to raise a total of £705 for a hospital charity with her latest event.

It comes after she collected over £3,000 for the My WiSH Charity from a series of events she helped to organise.

Now the latest amount is set to go to local NHS charity, directing it towards enhancing care at the cardiac unit at the West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds.

About 39 family and friends turned up for an evening of music, dance and a good chat at the Beck Row Methodist Hall last month for an evening Heather described as a “blessing”.

The 74-year-old, who lives in Barton Mills, decided to direct the money to the cardiac unit as her late husband Ken suffered a series of heart attacks and some of the people who attended the event have also had heart treatment.

She said Brian Roy supplied the music with the funds being raised on the night.

“We had a really lovely evening and it went very, very well with us raising the money. It was mainly a social event with family and friends but everyone just loves Brian’s music as he is so nice and very versatile.

“I love organising this kind of event and it’s raising money. I have fun doing it and it is a blessing for me.”

Over the years Heather has raised thousands of pounds for My WiSH.

Last year a party for family and friends resulted in £1,000 being collected; back in 2015 and 2016 she raised £1,200 for the Macmillan Unit at the hospital and a further £625 for the Every Heart Matters cardiac appeal in 2018.

Sally Daniels, fundraising manager, said “It was wonderful to meet Heather and her friends and family. It sounded like a fantastic night and we are so pleased that their get together raised such an incredible amount for us. This donation will really help us to continue enhancing care across west Suffolk.”
