Providing support where it’s needed most 💜
Our WiSHing Well Appeal (also known as our general fund) caters to all adult patients and our NHS staff across West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. Funds raised for this appeal will be spent where it’s needed most within West Suffolk Hospital, Newmarket Community Hospital, and the community services they both provide in Suffolk, spanning from Haverhill to Lowestoft.
Funds from this appeal will continue to be used for enhancements such as:
- Ensuring each patient who is sadly spending their birthday in hospital receives a card and birthday cake.
- Buying each inpatient across all West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust sites receives a gift to open on Christmas Day.
- Support for clinical areas and departments such as outpatients and specialist areas such as domestic abuse or the mental health.
- Staff support and wellbeing – including Schwartz Rounds, a forum where staff can come together in a safe space to discuss the emotional and social aspects of working in healthcare.
- Supporting community wellbeing projects – such as purchasing plants for the Sudbury Community Therapy Garden
- Placing a ‘listening ear’ on wards – peace and quiet is paramount for recuperation, and we know this isn’t always possible on a busy ward, but this visual aid turns red if the environment is too loud so staff can easily monitor noise levels
- Providing ‘Going Home Packs’ for patients – working alongside the early intervention and catering teams, these packs can help alleviate concerns for patients going home after a stay in hospital to an empty fridge. They contain items such as a sandwich, cereal, milk, tea and coffee to ensure the patient can settle home with some food and drink before their usual care services return.
- And lots more!
