Charity staff take on swim challenge
As head of fundraising, Sue Smith is used to being on the supporting side of some incredible fundraisers. Now it’s her turn as, along with her colleague, digital communications officer, Lucy Proctor, she will be swimming in the Rotary Club of Bury St Edmunds annual Swimarathon.
Taking place on Sunday 13th March, teams of up to four swimmers will swim for 40 minutes and try and swim as many lengths as they can.
Sue said, “After seven years working for My WiSH Charity I thought it was about time I showed that I was also prepared to push myself all the name of charity! As a team we are passionate about supporting patients and staff at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. We too live locally so they are our hospital and have cared for us, helped bring our children into the world and cared for our loved ones. This is a great opportunity to take on a challenge and join other amazing fundraisers for a change”.
Lucy is new to the charity and splits her week producing digital communications for both the Trust and the charity. She said “It’s been so interesting finding out just what the charity has been able to do to support the hospital. Working with both teams means I can link them together and it’s been fantastic to do this. I’m excited to take on this challenge and help make a difference”.
Obviously a team name was needed and what better than BayWiSH for this life saving charity team.
