Mowgli supports young people across the county

Mowgli Street Food opened its doors in November 2023 and business has been great. So much so that the first donation to their house charity saw £1,153 being donated to My WiSH Charity and a total of £4,105 raised to date. 

The Mowgli Trust ensures that each of their 21 restaurants supports a local children’s charity, something that founder, Nisha Katona, was passionate to do.  When they came to Bury St Edmunds, the Trust chose to fundraise for My WiSH Charity and their WiSH Upon A Star Children’s Appeal.

Fundraising manager, Sally Daniels, has worked closely with the street food restaurant and said “We were honoured to be chosen by Mowgli as their house charity. As a charity we enhance care for young patients across the county.  This is not only in the West Suffolk Hospital but out in the community at health centres and in their homes.  All aspects of their health care are supported by our children’s appeal, from maternity to diabetes, complex care to the emergency department.”

Sally continued: “This donation, we know, is the first of many and it’s going to have a huge impact on what we provide. We are already now able to work with the nuclear medicine team to buy some positioning aids, toys for the speech and language team to use for their therapy sessions and some outside play equipment for the Day Surgery Unit to help children both before and after their surgery which is just fantastic.”

The charity works closely with Mowgli, based in Abbeygate Street. Abbey Hides, Charities Coordinator at Mowgli Street Food said: “When we were looking for charities in Bury St Edmunds, My WiSH embodied all of the values which we seek to adopt within our partnerships. We are really proud to be supporting them through our restaurant as they carry out their incredible care for children, women and families in the local community”.

Sally also thanked all the customers who have donated and said “We are so grateful to everyone who donated the suggested £1 donation on their bill to us. This is a great opportunity for us to show them the difference it has made”.
