New Bury St Edmunds Mowgli restaurant to support My WiSH Charity

Indian street food restaurant, Mowgli Street Food will open its doors on Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, Friday 10th November, with a space that is able to accommodate 112 covers indoors and 6 covers dedicated to an outdoor seating space.

Founder of Mowgli, Nisha Katona MBE said: “Bury St Edmunds is taking shape and is very Mowgli indeed. We will slink in and grow organically, bringing the building to life with trees, lanterns, branches and ropes.“

Nisha says, “I remain executive chef, everything is cooked fresh to my recipes every morning and every day we know we are only as good as our last curry.”

Since opening in 2014, Mowgli has won over the nation. It is now the home of 19 sites; two Liverpool, alongside one in Manchester, Brighton, Nottingham, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh, amongst many others. Mowgli is not about the intimate, hushed dining experience. Mowgli’s menu is entirely comprised from Nisha’s family recipes and is about how Indians eat in the privacy of their home kitchens and favourite lunchtime street stalls.

The restaurant group’s charity, the Mowgli Trust, ensures that for every restaurant opened, they partner with a local charity, to fulfil the mission of ‘enriching lives’ and give back to the community by donating a discretionary one pound added onto the end of every bill. To make Bury St Edmunds truly Mowgli’s home, the restaurant will adopt the local charity, My WiSH, recommended by diners, whom the restaurant will dedicate their time and resources.

Mowgli will support The WiSH Upon A Star Children’s Appeal to ensure that young patients receive extra special care and supporting all paediatric areas including diabetes, children with complex care needs, psychological needs, and the emergency department.

Sally Daniels, fundraising manager, said “We are thrilled to have been chosen by Mowgli as their house charity. This is an exciting venture, and we look forward to working closely with the team. They money raised will allow us to do so many things for children across Suffolk and we are truly grateful.”

Nisha said: “I’m full of enthusiasm for growth because for every Mowgli we create 30 jobs, aim to pay over £500,000 per year to a local charities and share our chat bombs and cheese toast and gunpowder chicken with more cities across the nation.”

Mowgli has recently recognised as one of the Top Ten Companies to work for in the Sunday Times ‘Best places to work 2023’ and awarded one of the ‘Best Companies’ to work for in the UK for three years.
